How do you print your shirts?
All of the t-shirts we produce in our shop are hand screen printed using plastisol inks, the industry standard. Each and every shirt is printed with care by a real person, colour by colour- no transfers, sublimation or fancy machines. That means that we take the time to pay attention to each and every detail, ensuring the highest possible quality control.
First we separate the artwork into its component colours, then put the art for each of those colours on its own screen. A screen is basically a square or rectangular frame with a synthetic cloth stretched over it. Once the art is on the screens, we line them all up on one of our print stations and push the ink through the screens onto the shirt using screen printing squeegees, one colour at a time, until the image is complete. The shirt then must be dried through our conveyer heat dryer and it's ready.    top

How soon can I get my shirts?
Our standard turn around time is 10 business days. If you need your order completed in less time than that, let us know and we can try our best to accommodate you. If you need a very quick turn around time, there may be a small rush fee applied to the order.   top

What kind shirts do you print on?
We generally prefer to use, and recommend, Alstyle Apparel 100% cotton t-shirts. They are a rugged, sporty and durable brand and our customers really like them. We do, however, deal with most major suppliers so we can get any brand you may be interested in (American Apparel, Gildan, Bella, Nike etc), although that may affect the price. If there's something specific you are looking for just ask us and there's a good chance we can find it for you.   top

Why is there a set-up fee?
Set-up fees are standard with most print shops, and we charge less than many: $15 per screen. The main reason this is done is that the set-up for a typical print job is often the most time and resource consuming part of the process- it can take many hours to set up everything for a print job, and ties up a lot of expensive equipment and supplies. If you are planning on printing the same artwork quite often- say every month or more- the fees are waived after the first time.    top

How can I save money on my order?
We'll knock 5% off your total if you prepay your order. In order to prepay and save 5% you will be asked to pay for your order in full at the time the order is confirmed. You can prepay your order with cash, cheque, debit, VISA or Mastercard.   top

Are there graphics charges?
We don't expect you to know how to separate colors and be a graphics wiz. If your art is ready for print, there's no charge for preparation. If not, art charges are $35 per hour. The good news is, as long as your artwork is nice and big (300 DPI+ at your preferred print size), most art doesn't take us more than an hour to prepare. We will of course advise you if there will be any graphics charges before prepping your art. Generally we prefer artwork to be in EPS, PSD or PDF format, though JPGs are acceptable provided they haven't been too compressed. If you're not sure just e-mail us your art and we can tell pretty quickly whether or not we'll be able to work with it.   top

Can I get you to print on my shirts?
Not all garments are suitable for screen printing. If you are providing your own gear and are unsure, feel free to contact us. We can print on cotton, cotton/poly blend as well as most tri blends and 100% polyester. Fabrics to avoid are nylon & spandex. Clothing must be new and unwashed. Depending on how many you want, we charge a per-item print charge which increases with each additional color in the print, and regular screen set-up fees still apply.   top

Is there a minimum order size?
We have no minimums! We will print one shirt for you. One off shirts with a one colour screen print are $45, everything included. If you need less than 12 shirts, but more than 1, the pricing is not listed on the website, so just drop us an email or give us a call and we will be able to provide you with a total based on your specific order. If you are looking to have a full colour image on 1 shirt, we would use a heat transfer which is applied with a professional heat press. It is a different application than a screen print, but perfect for small runs and the product is still high quality. One off heat transfers are $35, everything included. If you're not sure just contact us and we can probably accomodate you.   top

Will you print shirts for me if I don't live in Halifax?
Of course! We have shipped out custom orders all over the world. The regular turnaround times apply but do NOT include shipping time, which depends on the shipping option you choose. The total for shipping is not included in the price- once we know where the order is being shipped to, we can calculate the additional costs. If you live in the Maritimes, we often ship via bus in which case you can pay for the shipping yourself, COD.    top
