How do you print your shirts?
All of the t-shirts we produce in our shop are hand screen printed using plastisol inks, the industry standard. Each and every shirt is printed by hand with care by a real person. We take the time to pay attention to each and every detail, ensuring the highest possible quality control.
First we separate the artwork into its component colours, then put the art for each of those colours on its own screen. A screen is basically a square or rectangular frame with a synthetic cloth stretched over it. Once the art is on the screens, we line them all up on one of our print stations and push the ink through the screens onto the shirt using screen printing squeegees, one colour at a time, until the image is complete. The shirt then must be dried through our conveyer heat dryer and it's ready.
How soon can I get my shirts?
PLEASE NOTE: Due to high volumes our turnarounds are 3 to 4 weeks as of Spring 2023.
Our standard turn around time is 10 business days (2 weeks). This can change according to volumes and product availability. If you need your order completed in less time than that, let us know and we can try our best to accommodate you based on scheduling availability. If you need a very quick turn around time, there may be a small rush fee applied to the order.
What kind shirts do you print on?
We work with several major suppliers and manufacturers so we can offer you a wide variety of options. You can view brands and suppliers linked on our products page. Prices vary between brands and styles. If there's something specific you are looking for just ask us and there's a good chance we can find it for you.
Why is there a set-up fee?
Set-up fees are $20 per screen. The reason this is done is that the set-up for a typical print job is often the most time and resource consuming part of the process - it can take many hours to set up everything for a print job and ties up a lot of expensive equipment and supplies. We will waive set-up fees on re-orders of 12 or more units within 4-6 weeks from the last order.
How can I save money on my order?
We offer a 5% “Pre-Pay Discount” if you prepay for your order. In order to prepay and save 5% you will be asked to pay for your order in full at the time the order is confirmed.
We also offer a 10% discount for non profit organizations.
Are there graphics charges?
We don't expect you to know how to separate colours and be a graphics wiz. If your art is ready for print, there's no charge for preparation. If not, art charges are $40 per hour. The good news is, as long as your artwork is nice and big (300 DPI+ at your preferred print size), most art doesn't take us more than an hour to prepare. We will of course advise you if there will be any graphics charges before prepping your art. Generally we prefer artwork to be in EPS, PSD, AI, or PDF format. JPGs and PNGs are not typically an ideal file format. JPGs and PNGs are designed to look good on screen, but they're typically not suitable for going straight to print with. If you're not sure just email your art and we can tell pretty quickly whether or not we'll be able to work with it.
Can I get you to print on my shirts?
We do not currently take on garments provided by the client. We offer a huge selection of brands and styles, please see our products page for links to the brands we carry.
Is there a minimum order size?
We have no minimums! We will print one shirt for you. One off shirts with a one colour screen print are $50 on a basic shirt, that includes the shirt. print, setup fee and taxes. If you are looking to have a full colour image on 1 shirt, we would use a heat transfer which is applied with a professional heat press. It is a different application than a screen print, but perfect for small runs and the product is still high quality. One off heat transfers are $40, everything included. If you're not sure, just contact us and we can probably accommodate you.
Will you print shirts for me if I don't live in Halifax?
Of course! We have shipped out custom orders all over the world. The regular turnaround times apply but DO NOT include shipping time, which depends on the shipping option you choose. The total for shipping is not included in the price - once we know where the order is being shipped to, we can calculate the additional costs.
